We had 11 players for our November tournament, so we switched from duplicate to standard format to allow everyone to play. The early pace was set by Mike Tobias, Martin Dachsel, Amina Ahmed and Rob Townsend. After lunch, Paul Healy stormed into the lead with a monster second session, but by the third session Martin’s consistent scores of around 500 were starting to mount up, and Rob also got back on track with 594. In the final session, table 2 only managed to play 16 out of 20 hands for some reason and an early departure meant they couldn’t finish. Despite sitting on that table, Rob still scored 597 on the final session to come through in second place behind Martin. Mike Hawkins came through to claim third place.
Martin took home a bottle of Armagnac, Rob some books and Mike some posh tea and biscuits.
