The third Marlborough Arms Synchron-Skat Tournament was held on Sunday January
18th 2009.
We welcomed two newcomers to this event, Joe Elleson and Alex Millar. It was to have been organised by Patrick Cherlet, but he was ill, and Mike Tobias organised it instead, with help from Beate, John McLeod and others. Jackie had to leave soon after arriving, which left twelve of us (not counting Mike). So we played as four tables of three, playing 21 boards in each of the first two sessions. Then Jackie returned, and to allow her to play Chris dropped out, and we played two further sessions, each of 18 boards. Patrick Phair repeated his remarkable performance of the previous event at this venue, scoring the maximum possible six MPs in each of the four sessions.
