The fifteenth Rising Sun Synchron-Skat Tournament was held on
Saturday May 6th 2006.
There were thirteen entrants, including the organiser, Nick Wedd. We welcomed Uwe Greiner, a newcomer to these events. We played twenty-one hands, as four tables of three, in each session. The organiser announced that each session would be over in one hour 45 minutes (five minutes per hand), and that any unplayed hands would not be scored. As each round started, he announced when it would finish. This worked well: no table exceeded the time allocation so all the hands were played; we played more hands than has been usual at these events; and we finished earlier than usual. One player reported that, knowing the time limits, he felt that he was under less time pressure than usual. I hope that other organisers may adopt this method.
